Amazon has announced two new Android tablets which make up the Kindle Fire HD range, there is a 7 inch model and an 8.9 inch model, the 7 in Kindle fire HD features a 1280 x 800 pixel resolution, whilst the 8.9 inch model features a 1920 x 1200 pixel resolutions.
Measuring at only 8.8 millimeters thin and weighing 20 ounces, the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD features IPS display features a 1920×1080 Full HD resolution and a 254ppi pixel density, as well as 10-point multitouch.
The 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD is powered by an OMAP4 4470 dual-core 1.5GHz processor and Imagination SGX544 graphics engine to deliver smooth operation and lightning-fast HD graphics.
Like the 7-inch model, the 8.9-inch models feature dual-band, dual-antenna WiFi connectivity for faster download speed, dual stereo speakers with Dolby Audio enhancement, and a front-facing camera for Skype video calling.
There are also Bluetooth connectivity and micro HDMI output.
Same as the 7-inch Fire HD, the larger Fire HD runs a custom system based on Android 4.0 and includes several Amazon features such as X-Ray for Books/Movies/Textbooks, Whispersync for Voice/Games and Kindle FreeTime.
The Amazon Slik browser is cloud accelerated for faster web browsing experience and the new Email and Calendar include support for Microsoft Exchange.
The WiFi-only Kindle Fire HD 8.9 comes in 16GB ($300) and 32GB ($370) capacities while the WiFi+4G model will be available with 32GB ($500) and 64GB ($600) internal storage.
Amazon will ship these 8.9-incn Kindle Fire HD tablets on 20 November 20.
If you get the 4G-capable Kindle Fire HD, you may also add Amazon’s $50/oon year data plan with 250MB per month, 20GB of Amazon Cloud storage, and a $10 credit in the Amazon Appstore.
