The new model is equipped with Canon’s newly developed 28mm wide-angle f/1.8 – f/2.8 lens with 5x optical zoom, which is great for low-light shooting or dramatic shallow depth of field.
It sports a 12.1 Megapixel high-sensitivity CMOS image sensor and DIGIC 5 image processor, and includes the Canon HS SYSTEM for enhanced low-light image quality.
The Canon G15 features High Speed AF for improved AF focus speeds and reduced lag, Intelligent IS that automatically chooses from six different modes to optimize image stabilization for the shooting condition, a maximum ISO sensitivity up to 12,800, Smart Auto mode with 58 scenes, and High-speed Burst HQ mode that does continuous capture of up to 10 frames at 12.1 Megapixel.
While its predecessor can do 720p HD video recording, the newest G15 supports Full HD 1080p video and features built-in stereo microphone for sound recording.
You can show the HD movie and pictures on a bigger screen via HDMI output.
The G15 also supports 12-bit multi aspect RAW+JPEG shooting as found in Canon EOS DSLR cameras, for the ultimate creative control.
