Getac Z710 – World’s Most Rugged Android Tablet

Getac introduces its Z710 rugged Android tablet designed to perform in extreme work environments.

The Z710 meets MIL-STD 810G / IP65 rating for dust and liquid resistance, shockproof to withstand drops up to six feet and ability to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -4° F to 122° F.

It has a scratch-resistant Gorilla Glass touchscreen display as well.

Specs wise, the Z710 rugged tablet is powered by OMAP 4430 1GHz dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM and runs Android 2.3.

Its 7-inch sunlight readable display has 1024×600 resolution also with glove-friendly touchscreen display.

The 5 Megapixel auto focus camera and the 1 Megapixel front camera allows users to capture images and video from the field, while the Lattice SiRFstarIV GPS chipset will provide faster location and improved accuracy.

You can also add the optional 1D/2D barcode reader and 13.56MHz RFID and Contactless Smart Card reader.

The Getac Z710 comes standard with Bluetooth 2.1 and WiFi connecitivity, and if you need to be connected all the time, you can get the 3G-equipped version with support for HSPA+/UMTS 3.5G and GSM/EDGE mobile networks.

The rugged tablet comes with 16GB internal storage and accepts microSD/SDHC up to 32GB.

Price & Availability

Getac’s Z710 starts at $1500, and the 3G version starts at $1800.

The Z710 will be shipped in October and is backed by a 3-year, bumper-to-bumper warranty.
