HTC’s event is underway and we just got to see the company’s first two Windows Phone 8 handsets, with the HTC Windows Phone 8X being the flagship.
The real killer feature seems to be the 2.1-megapixel front facing camera that is capable of recording 1080p movies with an f/2.0 lens.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset with two Krait cores clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 225 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
The device comes with a 4.3-inch (1280×720) super LCD2 display with Gorilla Glass 2 protection and it’s laminated to reduce glare.
The camera on the back is 8MP BSI sensor, f/2.0 aperture and 28mm field of view (in 35mm terms).
It contains a dedicated HTC ImageChip and can shoot 1080p video with stereo sound.
The HTC Windows Phone 8X comes with 16GB of built-in storage, which you can expand with a microSD card.
For connectivity, the HTC’s WP8 flagship relies on dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n, NFC, Bluetooth 2.1, microUSB and 3.5mm audio jack.
The Windows Phone 8X and 8S by HTC will be available beginning in November. Available through more than 150 carriers in 50+ countries, the Windows Phone 8X or 8S by HTC will be available from the world’s top carriers including: United States: AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon Wireless. Europe: Orange, O2 Telefonica, MTS, Three UK, T-Mobile, and Vodafone Asia-Pacific: Chunghwa Telecom, Optus, Singapore Telecommunications Ltd (Singtel), Smartone, Telstra and Vodafone Australia.
HTC is expanding its Desire line with another entry-level smartphone, the Desire 200. The new Desire comes with a 3.5-inch HVGA touchscreen display and a 5 Megapixel camera. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm SnapDragon S1 1GHz processor and 512MB of RAM. It has 4GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot for expansion. The official image of the Windows Phone 8-powered HTC Tiara has apparently leaked online, and at first glance, it sure looks rather similar to the HTC One SV, with hardware specifications that do not place it on the high end side of things, although it would occupy the mid-range smartphone market comfortably.
