Netgear has launched yet another high performance and incredibly well-featured router.
The new device is powered by a powerful 1 GHz processor and comes with an HDD bay that can handle a disk with up to 2 TB of capacity.
The official denomination of the new drive is Netgear Centria WNDR4700, but the company is also launching the WNDR4720 that bundles with a 2 TB HDD inside the box.
Both models come with two SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ports – which are up to 10 times faster than standard USB 2.0 ports – to provide additional storage capacity with compatible USB 3.0 external hard drives.
This Gigabit routers has five RJ45 ports, able to transfer data at a maximum speed of 1000 Mbit/s, it also comes with an SD card reader and that everything can be connected and set up through your smartphone.
The company offers a custom Centria app for Android smartphones through Google Play and iPhones through Apple’s own store.
This will help you set up and check up on your router directly, using your smartphone.
Centria can act as a print server as well, and you will be able to press print on any of your devices on the network and then, with no wires directly connected, a printer connected to one of the USB 3.0 ports will get you your document or picture.
The new Centria is a dual-band 2 GHz + 5 GHz router and the maximum available wireless bandwidth is 900 Mbit/s.
The new Centria routers are already listed online at $260 (200 EUR) for the basic version or $350 (270) for the 2 TB HDD version.
