Huawei P20 Pro

Let’s start with a quote from “I’m convinced it’s the best new phone of the year so far. Hell, I’ll go one better: it’s the best phone you can buy right now..”. Are you intrigued? Let’s see what’s so special about this smartphone and dig in to Huawei P20 Pro specifications.

Huawei P20 Pro

  1. Huawei P20 Pro Camera

First and most importantly we have to talk about P20 camera. Since it is the most advertised aspect of the phone. Devices primary camera is a triple camera: first – 40-megapixel color sensor (RGB), second – 20 megapixel black and white (monochrome) sensor and third – 8-megapixel sensor that offers 3x optical zoom (telephoto lens). There is a 5x hybrid zoom that uses a mixture of the three cameras resulting in very detailed photo of objects that are further away.

This mixture of three cameras gives you stunning photo quality, like Google Pixel 2 camera quality pictures. There are other dual cameras that are worth mentioning like iPhone X, Samsung Galaxy S9+ and last years Huawei. But they settled for 2x zoom and are nothing compared to the detail that P20 Pro gives it’s photos. And it’s great for trying to capture moving objects.

As for video – Huawei P20 Pro can capture 4K video at 30 frames per second and slow-motion footage in 720p at 960 frames per second. Nothing but hats off for video quality.

  1. Huawei P20 Pro display

The device has OLED (organic light-emitting diode) panel that offers rich colors and incredible contrast over an LCD (liquid crystal display) screen. It has Full HD+ 2240 x 1080 resolution and a 18 : 7 : 9 aspect ratio. Which is perfect for you if you like to watch, Netflix, YouTube videos, also this display is great if you like playing games on your phone. But you have to be prepared to use the phone with both hands for the most time. It is comfortable to hold it in one had while talking on the phone though.

The display has the same function like most other smartphones nowadays – “always-on” display. In which the screen even when locked can show you the time and different kinds of notifications. But it does not turn on by default, you have to take that one extra minute and set it up.

You can unlock your phone with fingerprint scanner at the bottom of the scanner or if you prefer to unlock your phone with your face you can do that too with Face Unlock. But FaceID does not work on this phone.

  1. Huawei P20 Pro – the looks

You can get Huawei P20 Pro in four colors: Black, Pink Gold, Midnight Blue and most importantly – Twilight which a lot of people say “could be one of the best phone color in years”. We totally agree and the colors of this phone are truly beautiful. But it’s all fun and games until the right light hits your phones beautiful front and back glass surface and the horror overtakes you seeing how many smudges and greasy fingerprints are covering your phone. The solution to this is simple either invest in a phone case or wash your hands every 5 minutes while using your phone.

Another thing where you will need to invest your money is a pair of Bluetooth or USB-C headphones. Because this phone similar to iPhone or Pixel 2 there is no headphone jack on this smartphone.

While you should worry about greasy fingers you don’t have to worry if you accidentally drop your phone in water, because of IP67 waterproofing.

If you are one of those people who like to scroll through Facebook jump to Instagram to like some pictures, answer someone on WhatsApp while calling and uber and talking with your mom on the phone all at almost the same time… P20 Pro will run smoothly through your many opened tasks. It’s all possible thanks to top notch Kirin 970 chip and 6GB RAM.

Also, you don’t need to worry about storage because P20 Pro has 128GB internal storage. So that should cover up for the fact that the phone does not support microSD.

And for the dessert – Huawei P20 Pro battery is pretty much the best you can find in the smartphone market right now. With battery that has 4000mAh capacity, even if you are using your phone almost all day you should be good not charging it whole day. And supposedly you can charge your phone 58% in only 30 minutes.

Huawei P20 Pro

  1. Huawei P20 Pro price and is it worth it?

This device’s price can be around $ 900 more or less, depending on a country you are in. It may not be such giant as Samsung Galaxy or Apple iPhone flagship smartphones whose prices have gone through roof this year… But overlooking all the specifications of this smartphone we sure can see why Huawei has put this price tag on P20 Pro.
